Home Gym Exercise Routines

We all try to get, and stay, fit and healthy with regular exercising and good nutrition. Whether you are an exercise newbie or a seasoned gym user, our lives are sources of guaranteed and continual changes. Whatever your exercise level, I hope this helps you to establish a home gym routine that will withstand your ever-changing world.

In regard to your exercising, it is important to periodically ask yourself: “What are my fitness goals?” Are you trying to lose weight? Do you want to bulk up or build muscle? Are you preparing for your first 5k? Whatever your exercise objectives are, thinking or remembering your goals, and possibly writing them down, will remind you of what you are trying to accomplish.

So, let’s keep it simple and create a home gym exercise routine that you will actually stick to.

Start every exercise session with a warm up. Your exercise warm up can be 5-10 minutes on a bike, rowing machine, elliptical machine, or a treadmill. Your exercise warm up is done to get your blood flowing and your muscles warm.

After your warm up, head right to your exercises. Your exercise routine should have at least one exercise for your: Quads (front of your legs); Butt and hamstrings (back of your legs); Chest, shoulders, and triceps; Back, biceps, and forearms; and your core muscles (abdominals and lower back).

Here is a quick guide for exercises that will work each of these. Quads — squats, lunges and box jumps. Butt and Hamstrings — deadlifts and hip raises. Chest, shoulders and triceps — overhead press, bench press, pushups and dips. Back, biceps and forearms— chin ups, pull ups, and body weight rows. Core muscles (abs and lower back)— planks, exercise ball crunches, jumping knee tucks and hanging leg raises. Pick one exercise from each category above for a workout that’ll work almost every single muscle in your body.

Don’t make your home exercise routine more complicated than it needs to be. Once you find a home gym workout plan that works for you, do your best to exercise for at least 30 minutes each day and get on with your day. Enjoy life!
